Philosophy

My mother is my muse. Having relocated from North Carolina to California, she seamlessly blends Southern grace and easygoing West Coast style. Ever since I was a little girl, I have admired my her ability to discern what is important to other people, allowing her to help those around her feel a sense of comfort and ease.

It is from my mother's example that I have learned my most valuable skill as a photographer--a gift for cultivating authentic connection with others. Technique and artistic judgement notwithstanding, my art excels through the cultivation of friendship and psychological intimacy with the subjects of my portraits.

It is only through my connection with others that I can create timeless images that fuse fine-art, portraiture, and documentary photography. I capture the decisive moments and, in post-production, retouch the images so the eye knows precisely where to focus

My clients have often described my "sixth sense", a quickening that allows me to anticipate the subtle, delicate moments that few notice and also capture the life-altering images that nobody will forget.
